Encouragement for Mothers

What a lot of responsibility we have as mothers, and it can be easy to become discouraged. I came across the following poem recently, shared by a friend, ...  and thought it spoke so clearly of where our strength comes from. Not from ourselves, but from following hard after God.

"Lord, who am I to teach the way
To little children day by day
So prone myself to go astray?

I teach them knowledge, but I know
How faint they flicker, and how low
The candles of my knowledge glow

I teach them power to will and do,
But only now to learn anew
My own great weakness through and through

I teach them love for all mankind
And all God's creatures, but I find
My love comes lagging far behind

Lord, if their guide I still must be,
O let the little children see
The teacher leaning hard on Thee."

  1. Did you get this from Candis when she sent it out to Student Venture Moms?

  2. You are right, Abby! This came from Candis ... I asked her if I could post it here. Such encouraging words, especially for young mothers, but also for moms (and grama's) of all ages!
