The Art of Listen - {Heart Connect}

"The art of communication is not in our ability to speak,
but in our ability to hear."

My "word of the year" is Listen ... in fact, it has been the word that God has brought to my mind to focus on for two years in a row now. It seems that we are so ready to speak our thoughts - both to God, and also to those around us. And so often we fail to really listen. I am asking God to grow me in the art of listening. To Him, and to others.

And this mindset is so true with prayer. We think of prayer as our speaking, telling God our needs, asking for His help. Repeatedly. But do we stop to realize that all real communication is two-sided - it is the speaking, but it is foremost, the listening.

Prayer ... "an invitation into the presence of the Almighty.
Once we truly enter that presence, our needs become secondary
and fellowship with Him becomes primary."

Thanking God for reminding me often - to listen. Asking Him to teach me more, and continuing with a partial break from blogging due to other responsibilities this week, wanting to follow closely.

  1. My friends all say I'm a good listener, but when it comes to God, so often I fail. Thank you for this reminder to simply rest in His presence--and listen.
