The Finest Food

"Is anyone thirsty?
Come and drink - even if you have no money!
Come, take your choice of wine or milk - it's all free!
Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen to Me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food.
Come to Me with your ears wide open.
Listen, and you will find life."
(Isaiah 55:1-3a)

Reminded again these past few days of my "word of the year" - listen. Something I am continually asking God to develop in me. A heart to really listen - to Him, first of all. And also to those I love the most, and to others around me. So much can be learned if we just slow down, pause, and really listen

I want to learn more, just as Mary did - by taking time, and listening.

"There is only one thing worthy of being concerned about.
Mary has discovered it,
and it will not be taken away from her."
(Luke 10:42)

  1. What an encouraging post....learning to listen.....That has been an aim of mine for sometime and He is showing me the wonderful benefits of sitting at His feet and learning of Him....Surely Mary had chosen the better way.....

  2. I read this post earlier today while on my lunch break, and throughout the day, it has come back to my mind - Listen. Great word choice, I may have to steal it for my word next year.

  3. Isaiah 45:3 speaks of "treasures of darkness" & "hidden riches" that God gives so that we may know Him. I've been praying to understand this better & am thinking these dark & troubling times that we go through have riches in them. The biggest treasure of course is God Himself. I'm trying to practice selective listening for His voice while learning to tune out the enemy. There is treasure in listening, only by His grace. May we all hear Him clearly! Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia

  4. "...and it will not be taken away from her." That is my favorite part of this verse. So much on what we spend our energy will be taken away in the end. And some of that is necessary, but if we can find in it what is eternal, then, well, we have something. Even Martha could have done that and still gotten dinner made.

  7. Isaiah is one of my favorite Books, and these verses rank right at the top. Always makes me want to absorb His Food, in body, soul, and spirit. Spiritually speaking, dieting is not a good thing.
