In Need

Constantly in need - the place where I have come to love to be. Constantly in need of Jesus. But when we set up our lists of rules and regulations, expectations of what we need to be and do in order to be accepted by God, we have replaced Jesus. And our religion becomes our god. And when we place these expectations on others, becoming their judge and jury, we have over-stepped ourselves.

So clearly explained by our pastor this last Sunday as we are going through Luke, now in Luke 6 where the religious leaders of the day clearly missed the most important message of all. And so clearly expressed in these life-giving words from Sunday morning ...

In need of grace
In need of love,
In need of mercy raining down
From high above.

In need of strength
In need of peace,
In need of things
That only You can give to me.

In need of Christ
The perfect Lamb,
My refuge strong
The great I Am.

This is my song,
My humble plea;
I am Your child
I am in need.

("In Need" - by Dave Hunt)

Thank You, Lord, for Your Grace and Mercy. Grace and mercy, in contrast to rules and regulations. Thank You for continuing to rescue me from some of the residue of legalism, and Thank You for flooding me continually with Grace, and with Mercy.

"He is so rich in kindness and grace
that He purchased our freedom with
the blood of His Son
and forgave our sins."
(Ephesians 1:7)

  7. I spent much of my early life trying to handle my own needs ... being very self protective. But ... God does it so much better than me. Beautiful words, Cherry.
