What Matters Most

"And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord,
you must continue to follow Him.
Let your roots grow down into Him,
and let your lives be built on Him.
Then your faith will grow strong  in the truth you were taught,
and you will overflow with thankfulness."
(Colossians 2:6-7)

Reading these words this morning, thinking on the beauty of trees - every season has it's own beauty. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Soaking in nourishment through roots; unseen by others, yet so essential for growth. Reaching up to catch the rays of sunlight. And the fruit of summer, and the beautiful foliage of fall - all beauty that feeds the soul. Beauty that gives thanks and praise to the Creator of the trees.

Lord, may I be the same - always soaking down deep into Your Words, Your Love, reaching up to You with a heart of thanks, and living life as a vessel for You, spreading Your love and beauty to those around me.

And today - remembering my dear, sweet mother who lived these words, and who passed away (and is now with Jesus) four years ago, Oct. 18, 2007.
